Everybody loves a good wedding and it seems like the upcoming Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton has caught the imagination of not just the entire country but the entire world. I thought I would move away from our normal fare and focus solely on the wedding.

There is going to be an estimated global audience of 2 billion people with approximately 600,000 extra tourists from home and abroad flocking to the capital to share in the celebrations. This will mean London will have 1.1 million tourists in and around the capital on the big day. The National Tourist Authority ‘VisitBritain’ has forecast that an extra £50 million will be spent on the day itself which should give the economy a much needed boost.

If you are coming to London to try and catch a glimpse of the happy couple then the wedding parade will travel along The Mall, Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall and Parliament Square. Be aware though that over the last few days hundreds of people have already started to camp out to get the best vantage point so it might be best to bring a pair of binoculars…or a telescope!

For those who are coming to join in the many street parties and share in the atmosphere then here is some useful info that will help you beat the queues and ensure you enjoy the day.

Transport for London has advised that the tube will be running a Saturday service with all lines up and running. In addition plans have been put into place to minimise the disruption caused by the significant road closures which will last beween 05:30 BST to 20:00 BST. Please note though that Victoria station is currently undergoing work and it has been suggested that passengers may (will) have to queue to get into the underground. In addition if the queues build up then the underground may (will) be temporarily closed to ease congestion. I would avoid using this route if at all possible!

If you are planning on using the over ground then there is no service between Willesden junction and Watford Junction.

For further information please check the Transport for London special wedding page http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/19808.aspx here is an overview of the days timings:

Finally

8.00 -10.00am - is when the main congregation will arrive

10.00am onwards - the Foreign Dignitaries and Royal Families arrive.

11.00am - the Bride will arrive and service starts

12.15pm - the Service ends and the carriage procession will begin

1.25pm -  Balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace

1.30pm - Fly Past

All that remains is to make sure the bunting is up and you have enough supplies of fizz, coronation chicken sandwiches and Battenberg cake so you can enjoy the day in true Royal style!
