Ryanair will only go direct
Wednesday, 22 June 2011 06:45

Ryanair have announced that they will only deal directly with passengers when considering compensation claims for denied boarding. Passengers who have been denied boarding through no fault of their own, often due to overbooking have been told by Ryanair that they will no longer correspond with any third party about their claim.

Under EU rules airlines must pay compensation to passengers who are denied boarding owing to over-booking or cancellation. The only time that airlines are able to avoid paying compensation is if boarding is denied owing to exceptional circumstances or safety reasons.

In a reaction to this announcement, one claims handling firms, EUClaim are offering assistance to passengers for a one off fee of £22.00.  EUClaim will provide consumers with data which confirms whether their denial of boarding was due to exceptional circumstances or if it was the fault of the airline. The site will then provide consumers with step by step instructions as to how they should go about reclaiming their compensation from airlines.
