The failure of three holiday companies in the same week has left hundreds of holidaymakers eligible to claim compensation for a cancelled holiday. Tour operators FT Tours and Pinnacle Travel, a travel provider for the education sector, along with sports-package provider, Pumpkin Tours, all collapsed within a day of each other.
FT Tours, who specialised in flights-only to popular holiday destinations in Egypt and Turkey, as well as Orlando and the Balearics, went into administration on the 16th September. On the same day Pumpkin Tours, an operator who provided sports package holidays for events like horse racing and Formula One, also ceased trading. The CAA stated that the winding up of the two firms was ‘managed’ and that there was no one abroad on holiday with either company at the time; although they wouldn’t disclose how many people had forward booked.
ATOL protection after holiday company goes bust
The firms were both Atol protected, meaning anyone who had a holiday booked and then cancelled with the firms are financially protected and can receive a total refund even though the holiday company has gone out of business.
Pinnacle Holidays entered administration on the 15th September but have seen their customers’ current and future bookings honoured after Visions Holiday Group, an independent tour operator, took up the management of the holidays.
