Tourists mysteriously die at Thai resort
Tuesday, 08 September 2009 10:45

cocktailA Norwegian and an American tourist mysteriously died within hours of each other at the Koh Phi Phi resort in Thailand.

Julie Michelle Bergheim, 22, from Norway, died on Monday 3 May at the Laleena guest house where, just a few hours earlier another guest, Amerian Jill St. Onge, 27, had also died.

Both women, along with their travelling companions, had fallen ill over the weekend at a hotel on Thailand’s Phi Phi island, and had been rushed to hospital.

St. Onge was travelling with her fiancé, Ryan Kellis, who also fell ill but recovered while Bergheim’s travelling companion also had to go to hospital.

Investigations are continuing but the cause of death is still unknown with a preliminary autopsy report showing acute gastritis and heart failure.
