A family from Weston-super-Mare have launched legal proceeding after being struck down with food poisoning on their Eygptian holiday, reports the Bristol Evening Post.
Joanne Ashley and Barry Hookway, with their children Liam and Lauren, had booked a one week, all-inclusive stay at the Sonesta Beach Resort in Sharm El Sheik in June this year, but three days into the holiday began to feel unwell.
“I felt so ill I couldn’t get out of bed and Lauren had a high temperature and was sleeping all the time,” said Joanne. “For the rest of the holiday, we didn’t leave our hotel room.”
Only Liam escaped illness but was confined to his hotel room along with his parents and sister as they suffered from diarrhoea and high temperatures.
The family visited a local doctor while at the resort who informed them that other people at the hotel had also suffered from similar symptoms. When they returned home their family doctor diagnosed that the family had contracted salmonella. |
