Watchdog focus on Holiday Village
Monday, 05 October 2009 12:56

The BBC's Watchdog programme has received complaints from more holiday makers who have fallen ill while staying at the Holiday Village at Sarigerme in Turkey.

Holiday_VillageThe resort continues to be the subject of criticism from holiday makers with over 1,600 cases currently in progress on behalf of tourists who have stayed in the hotel and become seriously ill.

Watchdog report that independent inspectors have been sent to the resort three times this year by tour operator First Choice, but holiday makers are still becoming ill.

Having enlisted the help of food hygiene expert Dr Lisa Ackerley, she told Watchdog that salmonella, cryptosporidium and campylobacter (serious bugs that visitors to the resort have since been diagnosed with contracting) cannot be caused by a change in diet.

First Choice told Watchdog, “The Holiday Village Turkey is one of our biggest and most popular resorts…Whilst we accept that any level of sickness is unacceptable, the number of holidaymakers falling sick remains very low.”
