Accident Abroad News: British tourist killed in Tenerife beach landslide
Monday, 02 November 2009 10:04

The Tenerife beach where a British holiday maker was killed by a landslide on Sunday November 1st had a landslide a month ago and had been cordoned off reports the Daily Telegraph's website.

The Foreign Office confirmed Marion O’Hara was killed along with a 34-year-old local after part of the cliff collapsed onto the beach at Playa de los Gigantes on the western coast of the island.tenerife_landslide

Local mayor, Juan Damian Gorrin, insisted that the stretch of beach where the collapse took place had warning buoys and signs alerting beach-users to the danger, but British tourists in the area told Sky News that  the only thing that had been in place was “a small piece of builders tape.”
