Our client was on a two week package holiday at the 4-star Maspalomas Princess Hotel in Gran Canaria where, apart from a one-day excursion, she and her family ate all their meals at the all-inclusive resort.

chickensandwich2After eating chicken sandwiches from the poolside bar, every family member fell ill from food poisoning at the Maspalomas Princess Hotel that continued for the rest of the holiday.

Our client developed sickness and diarrhoea and was diagnosed with Salmonella after tests were done after she returned from her holiday. The food poisoning could be traced back to the chicken in the sandwiches which had been re-heated by hotel staff.

Even after returning home she continued to suffer from pains, fatigue and diarrhoea and the opinion of a medical expert was that she had contracted a more serious form of a Salmonella infection known as Salmonella colitis from the food eaten at the hotel.

Two months after the holiday, and still having problems, our client was diagnosed with post-infection irritable bowel syndrome caused by the food poisoning at the Maspalomas Princess hotel. A medical expert gave the opinion that it was likely to take four years before the client would recover.
